During the emergency period(1975-1977) the government had fixed prices for both vegetarian and non-veg dishes sold in hotels.For instance

masala dosa 50ps
two idlis 30ps
meals Rs 1.25
Non-Veg dishes :-
Chicken biryani-Rs 3
Mutton curry-75ps
And for the people-The Bangalore diary used to dole out subsidised milk for the poor in Adugodi,Kormangala and Tilaknagar at
85ps for 500ml,
30ps for 200ml
5ps for 50ml.
When the Janata party came to power in 1977,many Janata hotels cropped up in the city cashing in on the popularity of that party.Thats a brief history on the Janata hotel which I wasnt aware untill I read this piece of news in the paper.
