January 23rd is Handwriting Day.National Handwriting Day was established by the Writing Instrument Manufacturers Association in 1977. Their motive is obvious, to promote the consumption of pens, pencils, and writing paper. January 23rd was chosen because this is the birthday of John Hancock. John Hancock was the first person to sign the Declaration of Independence nd is famous for his large, bold signature.

How long has it been since each one of us wrote more than a page of matter?We write only to scribble list of
things to do or maybe just to put our signature.

Few months back when I volunteered to write exams for a special child, I had to practice writing two pages everyday for over two weeks just to get into the habit of writing. This reminded me of school days when there used to be handwriting contests held by 'Camel' (Ink & Stationary manufacturers). The prizes were pens and there used to be a mad rush to win those prizes. It used to be the talk of the school and the person who won the first prize would be the hero for one whole year. Brings me to talk about pens, I still have the hero pen that was gifted by my dad in class 8.
Those days! Filled with small pleasures and lot of enthusiasm will always remain the best days of my Life!
