Do you want your wedding or any ritual to be as simple as possible?
Do you dislike the whole concept of a pandit, dowry, the whole astrology factor involved in deciding the time and matching horoscopes?
Then you probably should adopt the method adopted by the Dalits in UP. This seems to be picking up really fast and becoming popular among the Dalits who are at the bottom of the society and who suffer the atrocities of the upper class. I do not want to say caste here, because I do not believe in the whole concept.

The article talks about the dalits being against a certain sect of the society which is not right. People should have their own principles and live by them, but doing something as a means of expressing your anger against some people isn't right either.
But the concept of having simple ceremonies is a novel idea.

The law doesn't even require you to go through a ceremony at all. So, just take two witnesses, and you are done.

Hmm.. interesting.
But personally, Me likes weddings the traditional way.
With a conglomeration of relatives and kids running all around, chitter chatter and blabber wabber, colours and flowers, mantras and music, the looks on the floor and the three knots....
Me thinks if the occasion happens once, it better happen in a special way that can stay in our memories for a lifetime!
